artist statement
I've loved art since I was a child, but never had a chance to pursue it.
I worked in banking, advertising, and child support prior to a work injury
that forced me to quit my job.  The injury left me with severe chronic chest pains.
Doctors tried all kinds of painkillers and treatments.  Nothing worked.
The only thing that helped me was painting.  I ended up going to UCSF Pain
Management Center and studying Illustration at Academy of Art at the same
time.

I spend months on one painting with tiny 12/0 brushes to capture every detail,
for you to enjoy my paintings just as much with your nose up against them as
from far away.  For portraits, my goal is to capture heart and personality, not just
likeness.

I paint what God is doing in my life, what touches my heart,  what uplifts my soul,
and what puts a smile on my face.  Themes in my paintings are freedom out of
forgiveness, wholeness out of brokenness, and beauty and joy out of pain and
suffering.
